“People with diabetes are like everyone else. We may have to check our glucose, take insulin, and count carbs, but we can still do anything we put our minds to.”

At just 11 years old, Tai’yon is already showing the world what it means to be strong, brave, and unstoppable. Diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in 2024, Tai’yon has faced the challenges of managing a chronic condition with courage and determination.

In his new role as an advocate, Tai’yon wants people to understand one simple truth: kids with diabetes are just like everyone else. “We may have to check our glucose, take insulin, and count carbs,” he says, “but we can still do anything we put our minds to.”

As someone who is fairly new to diabetes, he understands how overwhelming the diagnosis can be and offers these words of encouragement: “Stay strong, and you are not alone,” he says. “It gets easier to manage with time.”

Tai’yon’s journey is just beginning, but his message is already powerful. He’s not just managing diabetes—he’s leading with heart, resilience, and purpose. “I live with type 1 diabetes every day,” he says. “I’ve learned how to be strong, and I want to help other kids know they are not alone.”
