“Life with diabetes is not about perfection. It’s about persistence.”
Living with type 1 diabetes has fundamentally changed how Tajah thinks about health. “It’s made me more intentional, more in tune with my body, and more proactive about taking care of myself,” she says. “Health isn’t just physical. It’s emotional, mental, and spiritual.”
As an advocate, Tajah wants to help people feel confident and compassionate to themselves when it comes to their health.
“Life with diabetes is not about perfection. It’s about persistence. Managing diabetes is hard, but it also teaches resilience, discipline, and self-compassion.”
For anyone facing a new diabetes diagnosis, Tajah recognizes that it can feel like a loss of control, but it doesn’t have to be that way. “Give yourself grace, learn your body, and know that you are in control, she says.”
Another part of Tajah’s advocacy is centered around education about living with an invisible illness. “Type 1 diabetes is not our fault. I didn’t cause this. I fight every day to keep myself alive. I may not look sick, but I am.”
Despite the daily battle, Tajah remains positive, summing up her life with diabetes in these three words: “Resilient, empowered, unstoppable.”
