“For me, it’s all about balancing awareness with positivity: staying informed, making small changes, and remembering to laugh along the way.”
Lance Bass is a Grammy-nominated singer, dancer, actor, podcaster, and film and television producer who was diagnosed with diabetes during the COVID-19 lockdown. Now, as a Dexcom Warrior, Lance uses his platform to educate and advocate for diabetes awareness, sharing how the right technology can make all the difference.
He encourages others to embrace their journey with curiosity and humor. “First, take a deep breath,” he advises those newly diagnosed. “It can feel overwhelming at first, but you’ve got this.”
Humor has helped him keep things in perspective, and finding a supportive online community has been a gamechanger. “It’s empowering to connect with people who understand what you’re going through.”
Educating people about the realities of living with diabetes is something Lance is passionate about.
“A lot of people think managing diabetes is just about eating right or taking your insulin, but it’s much more than that,” he says. “Even when I thought I had it under control, my levels were unpredictable. Tracking glucose in real time helps you stay proactive and address changes before they become a problem.”
Through it all, he finds ways to keep smiling. He says, “For me, it’s all about balancing awareness with positivity: staying informed, making small changes, and remembering to laugh along the way.”
